Tue 18th Nov 08 Café Church - the latest evangelical fad or a powerful tool to reach contemporary culture?
Join us for a fascinating day exploring Café Church at Queens Park Baptist Church - what it is, who it’s for and how it works. Lots of stories, innovative ideas, personal reflections and of course great food and all the coffee you can drink!
We will be joined by several churches that are pioneering this model of mission in different formats and there will be plenty of time to engage with them and others who will be sharing the day with us.
If you are exploring different styles of church or just wanting to investigate further then this day is for you.
Presented in association with The Church of Scotland & The Evangelical Alliance, Northern Ireland.

Sun 8th Nov 08 Power Prayze
The event is organised to prepare and equip young and old for trials that they may meet on their journey with Christ. We feel that it’s important to provide a place where young Christians can come together to learn more about Christ, take part in lively worship and prayer and share experiences in a relaxed atmosphere. Our next event is on 8th February at 7pm in Avendale Old Parish Church, Strathhaven. The awesome PowerPrayze band will be leading us in worship and there will be stalls in the hall to browse after.

Sat 15th Nov 08 Souled Out
Leading worship: James Gregory
This event will mark the start of our final weekend of Souled Out events in 2008, and we have two special evenings planned. On Saturday night, James Gregory will be leading us in worship. James now lives on the North East coast of Scotland and is a Director of the ‘Imagine’ youth festival. He was previously involved with Soul Survivor in England and is currently signed with ‘Survivor Records’. Two of his recent songs are particular Souled Out favourites; ‘God Of Hope’ and ‘To The God Above’.
Speaking: Martin Clarke
Our speaker on this occasion is our very own Ministry Director, Martin Clarke. One of the founders of the organisation back in 2003, Martin’s service to Souled Out has been tireless as he has sought to design and implement a fresh programme of events which would glorify Christ; inspiring and encouraging people of all ages to live more passionately for Him. Before starting full-time work with Souled Out in August 2007, Martin served as a Youth Pastor for 5 years. He has a real passion for preaching the Word of God, and yet is normally recognised at Souled Out as the guy with a ‘goatee’ behind a guitar!
His interests include listening to music, watching the latest TV box set series, and he loves getting stuck into the hottest technological gadget. Martin is married to Lynsey and they have two beautiful children, Bethany and Jacob.
We, the Souled Out team, believe that God has gifted Martin uniquely for this task, and know that he will bring a message which will be timely, and challenging for us all.
Doors open at 7.00pm and an offering will be uplifted during the event to help cover costs. We’ll be back at the AECC the following evening for a rather different worship event, kicking off slightly earlier. For details of what’s happening on Sunday, click here.

SU Training Event
Sat 7th Feb 09 in Glasgow, Sat 21st Feb 09 in Dundee
Beauty for Ashes Born Identity? is a conference for Christians who long to help children and young people reject the negative messages they’ve believed about themselves, and grow in confidence in God’s love for them.
In the morning we’ll look at how child identity/self worth is formed, and how it can be damaged. In the afternoon a choice of seminars will give us practical tips on topics such as building Biblical self esteem with children/young people; mentoring those at risk of exclusion; helping young people who self harm and working with children from families with drug/alcohol problems.
Alongside inspirational seminar leaders, we’re delighted to be joined by John Hayward (Glasgow) and Kathryn Copsey (Dundee), who are passionate practitioners working with some of the most disadvantaged youngsters in London.
We hope and pray that Beauty for Ashes will be an encouraging day as we share ideas and seek God together in order to see our children set free from shame and able to rejoice in their inheritance. (Isaiah 61v7)
To book: As we were fully booked last year, booking is essential and closes 2 weeks prior to the events. Please download a booking form from www.suscotland.org.uk/urbanwork or to request booking forms/posters, please email jenny.abbott@suscotland.org.uk

Sat 16th November 08 City Praise / Prisoners Sunday
It’s now over two years since we had the Origin City Praise team with us at ENCOUNTER06. But we’re delighted that they’re coming back to Souled Out, back to the AECC, to close off our year of events.
This special evening of worship and celebration has a different feel to our normal events. We’re welcoming back the Exile band and choir. They’ll be leading us in worship as many hundreds from all over Scotland lift their voices in praise, singing the best of the oldest hymns as well as the most modern worship songs.
As well as having our Origin Scotland friends with us, we’re thrilled to be able to have a focus on ‘Prisoners Sunday’. Many Christians from all different Churches across Aberdeen are doing a tremendous work in our city, caring for the spiritual and practical needs of those in prison as well as those who have been recently released. This event gives us a chance to reflect on this important issue, asking what our response should be as we consider those who are in trouble, those who are marginalised, those who so many have given up on. Our speaker for this event is John Merson. John is one of the pastors of Deeside Christian Fellowship Church and is involved in leading some of these prison ministries. John and some others will bring this subject to life for us in a dynamic and challenging way.
The event is free to attend - there’ll be a chance to give an offering to cover costs. You don’t need to book a ticket. Just turn up and grab a seat (doors open at 6:00pm)!
Would you like to be involved? If you’d like to sing in the choir, please email us, registering your interest and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
