Leading worship: James Gregory

This event will mark the start of our final weekend of Souled Out events in 2008, and we have two special evenings planned. On Saturday night, James Gregory will be leading us in worship. James now lives on the North East coast of Scotland and is a Director of the ‘Imagine’ youth festival. He was previously involved with Soul Survivor in England and is currently signed with ‘Survivor Records’. Two of his recent songs are particular Souled Out favourites; ‘God Of Hope’ and ‘To The God Above’.

Speaking: Martin Clarke

Our speaker on this occasion is our very own Ministry Director, Martin Clarke. One of the founders of the organisation back in 2003, Martin’s service to Souled Out has been tireless as he has sought to design and implement a fresh programme of events which would glorify Christ; inspiring and encouraging people of all ages to live more passionately for Him. Before starting full-time work with Souled Out in August 2007, Martin served as a Youth Pastor for 5 years. He has a real passion for preaching the Word of God, and yet is normally recognised at Souled Out as the guy with a ‘goatee’ behind a guitar!

His interests include listening to music, watching the latest TV box set series, and he loves getting stuck into the hottest technological gadget.  Martin is married to Lynsey and they have two beautiful children, Bethany and Jacob.

We, the Souled Out team, believe that God has gifted Martin uniquely for this task, and know that he will bring a message which will be timely, and challenging for us all.

Doors open at 7.00pm and an offering will be uplifted during the event to help cover costs. We’ll be back at the AECC the following evening for a rather different worship event, kicking off slightly earlier. For details of what’s happening on Sunday, click here.

Souled Out presents City Praise

Sat 16th November 08 City Praise / Prisoners Sunday

It’s now over two years since we had the Origin City Praise team with us at ENCOUNTER06.  But we’re delighted that they’re coming back to Souled Out, back to the AECC, to close off our year of events.

This special evening of worship and celebration has a different feel to our normal events.  We’re welcoming back the Exile band and choir.  They’ll be leading us in worship as many hundreds from all over Scotland lift their voices in praise, singing the best of the oldest hymns as well as the most modern worship songs.

As well as having our Origin Scotland friends with us, we’re thrilled to be able to have a focus on ‘Prisoners Sunday’.  Many Christians from all different Churches across Aberdeen are doing a tremendous work in our city, caring for the spiritual and practical needs of those in prison as well as those who have been recently released. This event gives us a chance to reflect on this important issue, asking what our response should be as we consider those who are in trouble, those who are marginalised, those who so many have given up on. Our speaker for this event is John Merson.  John is one of the pastors of Deeside Christian Fellowship Church and is involved in leading some of these prison ministries.  John and some others will bring this subject to life for us in a dynamic and challenging way.

The event is free to attend - there’ll be a chance to give an offering to cover costs.  You don’t need to book a ticket.  Just turn up and grab a seat (doors open at 6:00pm)!

Would you like to be involved?  If you’d like to sing in the choir, please email us, registering your interest and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
